Palau HiSET® Requirements

The following policies apply to anyone taking the HiSET® exam in Palau. When you schedule an appointment, you will need to confirm that you have read and understand these policies.

Palau Eligibility Requirements

To take the HiSET exam in Palau, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Age: You must be 18 years of age or older and at least one (1) year out of school (drop out) to be eligible to take HiSET exam.
  • Residency: To take the HiSET in Palau, you must be a Palauan or U.S. citizen or a resident of Palau and meet the following requirements:
  • You must be a resident of Palau, living at a Palau address to take the HiSET exam.
  • You must have resided in Palau for at least one (1) year to be eligible to take the HiSET exam. You must provide proof of residency.
  • Test Preparation or Instruction: Palau requires test preparation or instruction and authorization to test for eligible students.
  • Palau requires the following instruction before you can take the HiSET exam:
    • Pre-testing to measure educational level
    • Completion of at least sixty (60) hours of instruction
    • Post-testing to measure educational gain

Additionally, you must qualify to take the HiSET exam by taking the half-length HiSET Practice Test and scoring a minimum of:

  • Math: 12–15 score
  • Reading: 12–14 score
  • Writing: 9–12 score
  • Science: 13–15 score
  • Social: 14–15 score

Once you have met these requirements, you will receive authorization to test.

  • Identification: All applicants must present government-issued identification on test day at the HiSET test center. Outdated or expired identification will not be accepted. Acceptable forms of identification include:
    • driver’s licenses
    • valid passport
    • Palau ID that show your name, address, date of birth, signature and photograph

Paper-based Test

* You may test on each subtest three times during a calendar year. Contact your test center for more information.

*You must wait 21 days and complete tutoring instruction in the area or areas to be retested as certified by an instructor in the local program. Once this information has been verified, the authorization is granted at the local level.
