HiSET Second Chances Program
A new opportunity to keep moving forward
Life can sometimes get in the way of our goals. Financial challenges, family responsibilities, work commitments, or unexpected setbacks can make it difficult to complete the HSE. But that doesn’t mean your journey has to end.
The HiSET Second Chances Program helps eligible learners keep moving forward by providing HiSET subtest voucher support.
Three pathways. One goal.
1. Start fresh
Ready to begin your HSE journey? This pathway helps learners take the first step toward earning a HSE credential via HiSET and creating new opportunities.
2. Finish what you started
Passed some HiSET subtests but haven't completed the full exam? This pathway helps learners continue their progress and reach their goal.
3. A new way forward
Looking for a different path toward earning your HSE? This pathway helps learners continue their journey with HiSET (where state or jurisdiction policy permits).
Key eligibility requirements
To be considered for a HiSET Second Chances voucher, applicants must meet all the following baseline requirements:
- Be of minimum testing age and meet all state eligibility requirements for HiSET in their state of residence.
- Reside in a state where HiSET is offered as a high school equivalency option.
- Not currently hold a high school diploma or any high school equivalency credential (HSE, GED, HiSET, or TASC).
- Have an active HiSET account or be willing to create one as part of the application process.
- Apply directly as an individual (applications are not accepted on behalf of someone else).
Pathway Specific Criteria
Applicants may apply for one of the three pathways below, based on where they are in their High School Equivalency journey. The application form will guide each applicant to the appropriate pathway through a short self-reported testing history question.
