Retesting

What to know

HiSET test takers may take each subtest a maximum of six (6) times in a calendar year.

How it works

HiSET test takers may take each subtest up to three (3) times per calendar year with no waiting period. After the third attempt, a 60 day wait is required between additional attempts, up to a maximum of six (6) attempts per calendar year.

What it costs

You may retake each subtest five times within a twelve-month period. The retake fees are only the test center fee (noted above for each in-person subtest) or the at-home online proctor fee ($23.00 for each at-home subtest). You pay the full test fee only on the first and fourth attempt.
