Guam HiSET® Requirements

The following policies apply to anyone taking the HiSET® exam in Guam. When you schedule an appointment, you will need to confirm that you have read and understand these policies.

Guam Eligibility Requirements

To take the HiSET exam in Guam, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Age: You must be 16 years of age or older to take the HiSET exam. However, if you are 16 or 17 years of age, you must meet the following conditions:
    • You must have parent/guardian consent.
    • You may not be currently enrolled or required to be enrolled in a secondary high school.
    • You may not have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
  • Residency: You must presently live in Guam, and have lived there for at least 12 months. You must prove Guam residency by presenting a Guam driver’s license, identification card, birth certificate, local tax returns, utility bill, voter registration or bank statement on test day.
  • Test Preparation or Instruction: You MUST take the CASAS Appraisal before scheduling the HiSET exam. Please contact the Adult Education Office at 1-671-735-6016 and 1-671-735-6008 through 1-671-735-6010 to schedule for the CASAS Appraisal.
  • Practice Test: Guam doesn’t require you to take a practice test to qualify for the HiSET exam.
  • Identification: Outdated or expired identification will not be accepted. Acceptable forms of identification include:
    • driver’s license
    • Guam ID card
    • passport
  • Note: Your Social Security card is also required to schedule your testing appointment and to take the test
