California HiSET® Notice

The California Department of Education (CDE) and the testing vendor, PSI–HiSET, have searched the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) Passer Database and were unable to locate a record with the information you have provided. For further guidance please check the email used to file this request.

The CHSPE was a paper-based test for students that were at least 16 years of age or enrolled in at least their second semester of 10th grade. The test measured basic skills taught in language arts, reading and writing, and mathematics. The CHSPE was discontinued in the summer of 2023 and replaced by the California Proficiency Program (CPP), offered by PSI–HiSET. If you took the CPP, you may request a duplicate transcript or certificate through your myHISET account.

The CDE also offers the High School Equivalency (HSE) Program. The HSE Program is for individuals who are not currently enrolled in high school, are at least 18 years of age or older, or 17 under specific circumstances. If you believe you may have taken the HSE instead of the CHSPE, please visit the CDE HSE Webpage for more information on requesting a copy of your transcript or certificate.
